從 2018 年搬到西雅圖到現在，是我風景攝影技術的高速成長期，也累積了不少喜歡的作品，我覺得很大的來源是運用了 Previsualization 的技巧來拍照，也就是：
1. 預先想像好要拍的景跟構圖
2. 研究好什麼條件下能夠成就那樣的照片
3. 竭盡所能的在那個條件下出現在拍攝點按下快門

這個方法對於快速累積作品我覺得非常有效，但沒用好的時候會感覺像是在抄別人的作品，即便成功的拍到了想要的畫面，有時候反而自己還會沒那麼喜歡，甚至不好意思分享出來。

不過今天的這張是成功的例子，雖然點子的來源是其他人的，但成品看起來還是完全不一樣。且條件困難還失敗兩次，這次終於成功拍攝到了實在是無比的開心啊！ 🤣

這張照片點子的來源是 [Alex Noriega 的: Volcanic Autumn](https://www.alexnoriega.com/2015)，那張照片有幾個我超級喜歡的元素：
- 明暗對比創造出無比清晰的主角：Mt Rainier 的山頂
- 霧氣創造出的層次感跟夢幻感
- 複雜但卻平衡的構圖

要達成這樣的照片：
1. 要找到那個確切的拍攝點
2. 要知道得在一天中的什麼時間點去拍
3. 要有霧

前兩點很快就搞定了，但第三點卻是難以預測：
- 8/17 去的那天預報說有霧，但到了之後霧從頭到尾都沒有散去，完全沒有看到山 🤣
- 8/25 預報說有霧但不僅沒有，取而代之的反而是附近森林大火的煙 😢

## 9/21 (週二)

晚上收到預報說隔天的日出會有 100% 出現火燒雲的機率。雖然不是說有霧，但有了 8/17 的失敗經驗，我在想或許我只需要靠湖面上夜晚凝結的霧就夠了。隔天雖然整天沒有會要開，但又有點想好好上班，掙扎了一整個晚上後決定還是衝一發。

結果沒想到鬧鐘把凌晨三點設成了下午三點，驚醒的時候已經凌晨七點了，滑了一下手機看到好幾個攝影師在不同的點都拍到很猛的火燒雲，覺得很後悔超難過 😂


## 9/25 (週六)

弄這個網站弄了一整天，凌晨三點半要來睡覺，一滑手機看到又是 100% 火燒雲的預報，而且這次還有濃霧！雖然很想睡覺，但一想到 9/22 號起床時的那個難過感，又是星期天，覺得不衝一發真的是說不過去。迅速地東西拿一拿，開了一個小時四十分鐘的車在凌晨六點來到了拍攝點。預計：
- 6:33 am Blue hour (這個時候天空還很暗，但山上的雪已經開始在反射些微的光線，會有山頂在發亮的感覺，高層的雲會在這時候燒第一波)
- 6:45 am Golden hour (日出前山頂會有粉紅色的 Alpine glow，火燒雲最強烈會在這左右)
- 7:04 am Sunrise (山頂的雪會被日出的直射光照到發亮)
- 7:45 am Day time

## 6:16 am
就定位後摸黑試拍了一張，發現有霧而且霧看起來只差一點點就不會擋住山了，覺得心情都開始澎湃了起來。

結果風把霧往我們的方向吹過來，一瞬間連前面的湖面都看不到了，心頭一沉想說哇又跟 8/17 號一樣，看來要調整一下以後決定衝一發的條件，可能要挑霧預報沒那麼濃的時候來。

開始在一邊吃早餐一邊想說要不要離開站好的點，去拍一些其他照片。但突然間發現霧越來越淡，然後一瞬間，就像薄紗被撥開了一樣，Mt Rainier 就這樣出現在我的面前。

美到情不自禁的大聲狂呼了好幾聲 🤣

大概就在這一分鐘的時間內，湖上面的霧完美的把湖前面的樹跟湖後面的樹區分開來，完全就是我在腦中想像過無數次的夢幻層次感！

已經拍到了我這趟的目標後，看著天空越來越粉，然後連 Alpine glow 都出現了，真的有種中了超級大獎的感覺，每次就是在這個時候會覺得，之前怎麼這麼傻還在考慮不要出門，然後發誓以後看到好條件一定要逼自己出門 🤣

看到霧在飄的速度蠻快的還上了減光鏡，用 20 秒的快門來簡化霧的質地跟營造流動感，剛好跟天空的雲的質地很搭覺得超喜歡。

粉色的雲持續了六分鐘就結束了，慢慢的雲又開始擋住了山，我覺得非常有趣的是這張很清楚的可以看到那個小三角形 (Little Tahoma Peak) 跟後面的雪山其實是分隔開的 🤣，要不是有霧區隔了兩者，應該很容易會以為他就是山的一部分 XD

雖然心滿意足地拍完了目標的作品，但湖邊其實因為秋天的關係，出現了很多艷黃色跟火紅色的樹葉，是上面幾張照片並沒有表現出來的，於是又十分留戀的試著捕捉這些秋天的感覺。

一邊拍著那些湖邊的秋葉，突然發現 Mt Rainier 山頂上出現了 Lenticular cloud，是一種山上蠻常見的雲，有時候會很像是 Mt Rainier 帶了頂帽子，這張沒有那麼像但還是覺得很喜歡，而且天空的藍實在有夠美。

開下山穿越雲層的時候，意外的拍到了一張陽光試著穿透霧的樹頂剪影照，真的是個快樂又生產力爆棚的早上，值得趁記憶猶新的時候寫一篇記錄下來 😆

追逐最美的 Mt Rainier 霧景照

## 📓 Photography Journey
- Wrote 3 posts in the Photography Journey series this past week. It's so interesting to look all the way back and try to recall what I'm thinking when clicking those shutters.
- Looking at the work from those photographers that I look up to, I feel like it's relatively easy to learn the technical skill of how they created their work, but much harder to understand the thinking behind the photo. If they had written down the journey that got them to where they are at in detail, I think I'd gladly pay for this kind of story. So I figure maybe I should start writing these down now myself, just in case someone wants to learn from my journey in the future. 😛
- This series is written in a timeline format by all the notable events and photos I took throughout the years. Hopefully, you guys will find patterns and relatable stuff that you found interesting or valuable. 

## ✅ Else
- I got my second business credit card! I was concerned about spending 15k in 3months to get the reward. But then I realized there are new MacBook Pro and Mavic Pro 3 coming out, and I have all the traveling during the holiday season. I also realized I could just order a bunch of high-end acrylic prints to stock for sale later. So I just went for it.



## 📓 攝影歷程
- 一口氣寫了三篇攝影歷程的文章，覺得回頭看看好幾年前拍的照片們，回想當時按快門時的想法真的是很有趣啊！
- 現在看著崇拜的攝影師的作品，覺得要拍出類似的也大概知道要怎麼做之後，其實也更想了解他們背後的想法跟一路拍攝十幾年以上的心路歷程，然後就想說我可以及早開始紀錄，以免以後都忘光了想寫也寫不出來。
- 形式上目前用非常流水帳的方式看著照片在寫，讓大家跟我一起發掘歸納跟找共鳴，想說這樣比較不會參雜太多後見之明。

## ✅ 其他
- 拿到了第二張信用卡。本來很猶豫商業卡的開卡禮要三個月花 15k 會很難湊到，不過年底又是 Mac Book Pro 出新版、又是 Mavic Pro 3 也出了，想說再加上去旅遊什麼的，就衝一發了！最不濟也可以下單一堆之後再拿來賣的無框畫囤著。

## 📷 機身

### Canon EOS R5

對我來說，相機操作起來順不順手是我很在意的點，而 Canon 在這方面一直做的深得我心。作為對比，幾年前選家的時候 Sony 的 A7 系列拿在手裡總是覺得手卡卡的，且沒有觸控螢幕，而 Nikon 的 D850 對我來說又太大太重。當時 (2015) 入了 Canon 的坑之後就一直沒有換過，從 6D 入門，5D4 高階機，R 的輕便跟翻轉螢幕，到現在用 R5 的高畫素、高動態範圍、眼部對焦，每台都用得很開心。

## 👓 鏡頭

### RF 70-200mm F2.8 L

最常用的鏡頭之一。

70-200 焦段能夠拍出的東西很多，風景、野生動物、人像、花草樹木山什麼的都很適合，F2.8 的大光圈也帶來更多可能性，尤其是想要讓前景虛化到只有色塊的時候，或是拍野生動物需要高速快門的時候，都是 F2.8 的使用場景。

另外就是他可以拍出很多手機拍不出來的照片，所以如果只能帶一顆鏡頭的話我會傾向帶這顆。

### RF 15-35mm F2.8 L

最常用的鏡頭之一。

我之前廣角鏡的主力是 EF 16-35mm F4 L，非常好用。但後來還是為了額外的 15mm、F2.8 可以拍夜景星空、跟 RF 原生鏡不用轉接頭的關係而升級成這顆。缺點是比起 F4 他比較重，且星芒耀光有點嚴重，讓我開始猶豫要不要也入手 RF 14-35mm F4 L。

### RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L

主要拍野生動物。

比起 70-200，額外的 200-500mm 對於拍野生動物真的是非常有必要。不過他的重量接近我能夠接受的極限，手持拍攝一陣子後手腕會蠻酸的，所以出勤率還是沒有 70-200 高。

### RF 24-105 F4 L

蠻常用的鏡頭，不確定要拍望遠還是廣角的時候會帶這顆。

24mm 還算夠廣，拍兩張接圖的話就可以等效成 16mm 左右，105mm 配上 R5 的高畫素也可以裁切出 200mm 以上的圖，F4 除了拍完全沒光的夜景有點吃力之外，其他場合拉高 ISO 或放慢快門都是可以拍得出東西。

### Rokinon SP 14mm F2.4

拍銀河專用。

雖然是相對便宜的副廠鏡頭，但意外的比 Canon 自己的原廠鏡更適合拿來拍銀河。拍星星一個很困擾我的問題是彗形像差 (Coma)，他會讓星星看起來不是一個點，而是奇怪的形狀。解決方法通常是縮光圈，或是多拍幾張接全景然後只取中間沒有像差的部分，或是彗形像差比較輕微的鏡頭，像是 Rokinon 的。

### EF 100 F2.8 L Macro

微距鏡，目前不太常用的鏡頭，但可以拍出其他鏡頭拍不了的東西，偶而拿出來拍還是覺得蠻好玩的。

### EF 11-24mm F4 L

超廣角鏡，為了額外的 11-16mm 而買的，頗重導致很少拿出去用，之前會拿來拍瀑布包更多前景。

## 🚁 空拍機

### DJI Mavic Pro 2

攜帶方便的空拍機中感光元件最好的，覺得好像沒什麼競爭對手，聽說 Pro 3 要出了，好期待啊！！！！！建議大家等 Pro 3 出了再看要買哪台。

## 💸 如果我還不想升到頂怎麼辦？

以上是我從 2015 年慢慢演進到現在剩下有在用的相機跟鏡頭們，中間其實也是經歷過不少升級的過程，有二手鏡、F4 小光圈、副廠、旅遊鏡等等。如果你暫時不想砸錢升到頂的話，這邊提供一些想法：

### 考慮 APS-C

如果相機的重量會影響你拍照的意願，那 APS-C 的相機 (而不是全幅) 可能是很值得考慮的選項。除了因為感光元件小一級，畫質會差一點之外，重量、體積、價格全部降低一倍以上！如果你還沒有很用力的在修圖，畫質的差異應該不會太有感，能讓你多拍多嘗試各種構圖的相機才是比較重要的。

我其實有 Canon EOS M6 Mark II + 11-22mm + 18-150mm，對比我的 R5，簡直又小又輕到不可思議的地步，會拿來當拍縮時的備用機，或是大白天爬山的時候帶心安。

### 考慮超級旅遊鏡

我一開始有一段時間都用 Tamron 的 24-240mm 在拍 (搭配 5D4)，涵蓋焦段超廣對於嘗試各種不同構圖實在非常非常的方便，且價格相對便宜，體積小又輕巧。一度覺得自己很天才找到這麼好的鏡頭，拍的非常開心 😂。直到後來認真修圖才發現他的畫質其實不太好，且對著太陽拍的時候耀光很嚴重。不過回頭來看我認為還是不失為一個很好的入門鏡。

### 考慮 F4 鏡頭

通常大光圈 F2.8 的鏡頭都會比 F4 貴跟重上一級，如果你還沒有發現自己非 F2.8 不可的使用情境，F4 鏡頭通常是很好的選擇。

### 考慮二手鏡頭或整新品

Canon 的 L 鏡二手價大概是 5 折到 9 折之間，我覺得還蠻划算的。我曾經買過大約 7 折的鏡頭，用了兩年後又用 7 折少一點點賣掉，等於一顆一千多的鏡頭，實際的兩年持有價才一百塊左右 😅

### 考慮非 L 鏡

Canon 的高級鏡頭都會標 "L"，非 L 鏡通常會比較便宜，畫質應該也還可以，但可能會少了防手震、防塵防滴之類的功能，且二手價可能會比較難賣，稍微沒那麼推薦。

### 考慮副廠鏡頭

Tamron、Sigma 的副廠鏡頭其實也都不錯，不過他們好像還沒有出給 RF 系統用的就是，就得買給 EF 用的然後搭配轉接環，個人覺得不是很方便。

70-200 焦段能夠拍出的東西很多，風景、野生動物、人像、花草樹木山什麼的都很適合，F2.8 的大光圈也帶來更多可能性，尤其是想要讓前景虛化到只有色塊的時候，或是拍野生動物需要高速快門的時候，都是 F2.8 的使用場景。

另外就是他可以拍出很多手機拍不出來的照片，所以如果只能帶一顆鏡頭的話我會傾向帶這顆。

### RF 15-35mm F2.8 L

最常用的鏡頭之一。

我之前廣角鏡的主力是 EF 16-35mm F4 L，非常好用。但後來還是為了額外的 15mm、F2.8 可以拍夜景星空、跟 RF 原生鏡不用轉接頭的關係而升級成這顆。缺點是比起 F4 他比較重，且星芒耀光有點嚴重，讓我開始猶豫要不要也入手 RF 14-35mm F4 L。

### RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L

主要拍野生動物。

比起 70-200，額外的 200-500mm 對於拍野生動物真的是非常有必要。不過他的重量接近我能夠接受的極限，手持拍攝一陣子後手腕會蠻酸的，所以出勤率還是沒有 70-200 高。

### RF 24-105 F4 L

蠻常用的鏡頭，不確定要拍望遠還是廣角的時候會帶這顆。

24mm 還算夠廣，拍兩張接圖的話就可以等效成 16mm 左右，105mm 配上 R5 的高畫素也可以裁切出 200mm 以上的圖，F4 除了拍完全沒光的夜景有點吃力之外，其他場合拉高 ISO 或放慢快門都是可以拍得出東西。

### Rokinon SP 14mm F2.4

拍銀河專用。

雖然是相對便宜的副廠鏡頭，但意外的比 Canon 自己的原廠鏡更適合拿來拍銀河。拍星星一個很困擾我的問題是彗形像差 (Coma)，他會讓星星看起來不是一個點，而是奇怪的形狀。解決方法通常是縮光圈，或是多拍幾張接全景然後只取中間沒有像差的部分，或是彗形像差比較輕微的鏡頭，像是 Rokinon 的。

### EF 100 F2.8 L Macro

微距鏡，目前不太常用的鏡頭，但可以拍出其他鏡頭拍不了的東西，偶而拿出來拍還是覺得蠻好玩的。

超廣角鏡，為了額外的 11-16mm 而買的，頗重導致很少拿出去用，之前會拿來拍瀑布包更多前景。

### DJI Mavic Pro 2

攜帶方便的空拍機中感光元件最好的，覺得好像沒什麼競爭對手，聽說 Pro 3 要出了，好期待啊！！！！！建議大家等 Pro 3 出了再看要買哪台。

## 💸 如果我還不想升到頂怎麼辦？

以上是我從 2015 年慢慢演進到現在剩下有在用的相機跟鏡頭們，中間其實也是經歷過不少升級的過程，有二手鏡、F4 小光圈、副廠、旅遊鏡等等。如果你暫時不想砸錢升到頂的話，這邊提供一些想法：

### 考慮 APS-C

如果相機的重量會影響你拍照的意願，那 APS-C 的相機 (而不是全幅) 可能是很值得考慮的選項。除了因為感光元件小一級，畫質會差一點之外，重量、體積、價格全部降低一倍以上！如果你還沒有很用力的在修圖，畫質的差異應該不會太有感，能讓你多拍多嘗試各種構圖的相機才是比較重要的。

我其實有 Canon EOS M6 Mark II + 11-22mm + 18-150mm，對比我的 R5，簡直又小又輕到不可思議的地步，會拿來當拍縮時的備用機，或是大白天爬山的時候帶心安。

### 考慮超級旅遊鏡

我一開始有一段時間都用 Tamron 的 24-240mm 在拍 (搭配 5D4)，涵蓋焦段超廣對於嘗試各種不同構圖實在非常非常的方便，且價格相對便宜，體積小又輕巧。一度覺得自己很天才找到這麼好的鏡頭，拍的非常開心 😂。直到後來認真修圖才發現他的畫質其實不太好，且對著太陽拍的時候耀光很嚴重。不過回頭來看我認為還是不失為一個很好的入門鏡。

### 考慮 F4 鏡頭

通常大光圈 F2.8 的鏡頭都會比 F4 貴跟重上一級，如果你還沒有發現自己非 F2.8 不可的使用情境，F4 鏡頭通常是很好的選擇。

### 考慮二手鏡頭或整新品

Canon 的 L 鏡二手價大概是 5 折到 9 折之間，我覺得還蠻划算的。我曾經買過大約 7 折的鏡頭，用了兩年後又用 7 折少一點點賣掉，等於一顆一千多的鏡頭，實際的兩年持有價才一百塊左右 😅

### 考慮非 L 鏡

Canon 的高級鏡頭都會標 "L"，非 L 鏡通常會比較便宜，畫質應該也還可以，但可能會少了防手震、防塵防滴之類的功能，且二手價可能會比較難賣，稍微沒那麼推薦。

### 考慮副廠鏡頭

Tamron、Sigma 的副廠鏡頭其實也都不錯，不過他們好像還沒有出給 RF 系統用的就是，就得買給 EF 用的然後搭配轉接環，個人覺得不是很方便。

我是透過 ZenBusiness.com 這個第三方服務來幫我註冊，他網站設計的介面超簡潔，五分鐘填個對話式的問卷就可以繳錢，繳完錢過沒幾天，我什麼都不用做他們就搞定了，還包含拿到了報稅要用的 EIN，跟幾個現在也不知道有什麼用的文件。

然後註冊完沒幾天就收到了一通銀行的推銷電話，跟裝得很像政府機構想騙我 $82.50 的詐騙信 😅 美國 LLC 的數量好像是幾百萬到幾千萬的量級，感覺真的是有利可圖 lol

最後在老牌的 Chase 跟一樣是新創公司的 NOVO 之間選擇了 NOVO，覺得金融新創就是潮。 😂 

線上申請後幾小時就批准了，才發現有不少福利：Booking.com 6% cashback、Stripe $20k 免手續費、Google Cloud & Ads credits、segment $50k credit 等等，根本新創公司大禮包。

### 信用卡

信用卡倒是還沒決定要辦哪張，覺得目前看到的要麻沒什麼我用得到的回饋，要麻就是開卡禮有夠難湊，動輒前三個月要花 $7.5k ~ $15k 😓 (~~逼我刷中片幅相機嗎？~~)

### User authentication

被 AWS user authentication 的坑 + AWS Amplify DataStore 的坑一個合體技絆倒了我一整天
- 為了讓沒登入的人看得到文章，登入的管理者(我)可以更改文章，AWS 上需要設兩種 authentication 的模式，但關鍵是 AWS console 上設完之後，我自己程式碼裡面還得額外加一行設定才行 (還不寫清楚... Orz)
- 然後 AWS Amplify DataStore 是個 offline-first 的 backend，所以上面關於誰看得到誰看不到文章的邏輯，得把 offline DataStore 清掉才測得出來。(也是不寫清楚... Orz)

不過終究是設定好了，現在很清楚之後要怎麼讓人註冊帳號，給文章瀏覽權限等等了

### 文字編輯器

文字編輯器也是個弄了很久的東西，目標是可以讓我完全專注在把想法轉成文字，而不是在搞排版。

嘗試了純 code editor 的 Monaco 跟 codeMirror、所見即所得的 CKEditor、跟兩個 Markdown editor，最後用了 react-simplemde-editor，覺得十分滿意。可以簡單的寫擴充來實現複製貼上圖片後，圖片自動上傳到 imagekit.io 的功能。

Markdown renderer 用了 react-markdown，也是可以客製化很多東西，像是用 imagekit.io 的 API 可以改善圖片 loading 的體驗，或是

- Rewrite this website with Next.js (previously using vanilla create-react-app)
- Changed my hosting from AWS Amplify to Vercel (the company behind Next.js)
- Changed my backend from AWS Amplify to Firebase
- Implement i18n (hence this first post in English 😍)

## 🗽 So good to be free

You might be wondering, with all those high-quality services like Instagram, Medium, Squarespace, why would I still decide to build my website from scratch in 2021? 😂

I'd say it's all about freedom. 

With Instagram, I found myself getting influenced by how Instagram will optimize for its viewer. I felt less motivated to take pictures in landscape mode cause I knew it wouldn't look good for my follower. I also felt demotivated to write a good caption since most people don't ready those anyway.

I want a new place that I can experiment with different formats of showcasing my photos and telling my story. And I don't want to get influenced again by yet another service that imposes arbitrary limitations. 

I looked into Squarespace but ultimately decided I should write my own from scratch so that I don't need to spend time hacking around their system to get whatever feature I may want in the future. Like I'd imagine, the English-Chinese mode I implemented in a few hours could be hard to set up in Squarespace.  

So far, I think the code and website are looking pretty good. 😁


## 🍂 Weekends

So this weekend, I went to Mt Rainier for the fog again. Although unfortunately, this time, the mountain never reveals itself. It looks like my success rate of getting that "moment of Mt Rainier revealed from the fog" is now down to 25% 😂

Last weekend I went to this popular fall color hike: Mt McCausland Trail. The kind of fall color it has are those small bushes turned red and yellow. Not sure how to best photograph it yet. But my friend took their dogs with us, so I ended up taking tons of dog pics. 😂

## 🗽 自由的感覺真好

其實我對從頭寫這個個人網站超！級！興！奮！

覺得已經開始有了很不錯的樣子了，包括後台的文章編輯體驗也是越來越讚，畢竟每次一覺得哪裡怪怪的不好用，很快就會想辦法解決掉 😆

雖然要追上現成的平台的品質還有一段路要走，但覺得已經可以看得到別人的車尾燈了，且現在一邊加功能一邊不斷的重構程式碼，可以掌握程式碼品質跟功能真的是超爽的。不用再被平台綁架，或是花大量時間去研究怎麼在別人的架構底下 Hack 出一個簡單的功能。

前端工程師真的是個很實用的技能啊 😆

## 🍂 週末

這個週末又跑去了 Mt Rainier 追霧，不過可惜直到日出後霧都沒散開，看來目前的成功率只剩下 25% 了。

上個週末則是爬了一個很夯的秋景步道: Mt McCausland Trail，他的秋景屬於小樹叢會變豔紅或豔黃色，還不太知道要怎麼拍，倒是拍了一堆朋友的狗的照片 😂

3. Building my website from scratch

3. 從頭寫網站

2019 年末被 Nigel Danson 的幾個影片燒到，被說服說買印表機練習輸出自己的照片能提升自己的攝影能力，就買了台跟他一樣的高級印表機 Canon Pro-1000，整合進自己後製的流程中，印出來後總是能夠發現一些在電腦上沒有發現還可以被改進的細節。

但這台印表機除了改進了我的後製流程之外，拿來跟印刷廠印出來的產品比較後，甚至覺得他印的品質比很多外包的印刷廠高很多，就覺得要賣印出來的作品的話與其找外包，好像不如自己印，除了可以掌握品質之外，還多了更多加值的空間像是簽名、開箱體驗等等。

這兩週主要就是在研究要怎麼把這些自己印出來的東西打包成可以賣的產品，還有實測把東西寄給朋友們看看他們的反饋。

## 🚚 運送
- 首先第一個快要把我擊敗的是運送
- 雖然說美國最常見的其實就是三家：USPS、UPS、Fedex，但是他們各自有自己對不同服務的莫名其妙稱號，以 USPS 為例，沒有研究過誰會知道 Priority vs Express vs First Class 到底差在哪啊！然後除了國際跟國內的價格差超多之外，用第三方服務 vs 直接去 USPS 櫃檯寄居然也會有不同的價格，完全暈頭轉向。
- 最後終於發現最便宜的是 USPS First Class Mail，但他有個規定是寄的東西不能是「硬」的，否則就要加錢用 USPS First Class Package。所以如果要用珍珠板來保護東西不被折到，就會被歸類成是硬的，用厚紙板的話則是不會。
- 然後決定用第三方軟體，省去上班時間還得去 USPS 排隊的時間。在家自己把標籤印出來貼上就可以拿去郵筒寄了。
- 寄回台灣的話好像還得煩惱海關的問題。

## 📦 包裝
- 為了保護印出來的照片不會被折到，也是在這邊煞費苦心，尤其還得把運送的成本考量進去，大小跟重量都得去計較 Orz
- 還有要防水、防壓、不要感覺太廉價、最好還可以回收、然後很好拆，就發現找不到符合所有條件的包裝了 😂
- 測了一堆之後目前有一組還算滿意，收到的朋友也覺得很有質感，但不太好拆封有點可惜，之後再來繼續找。

## 🖼 作品用途
另外一個在煩惱的點是要怎麼針對不同的用途開發不同的產品，比方說
- 要長期保存：跟畫有接觸到的東西都得用無酸材質，原料的材料也會比較貴，簽名可能可以簽在正面，印的時候可以留恰到好處的白邊讓他看起來更有質感。
- 要簡單放在桌上展示用：就不需要考慮無酸處理的問題，我可以黏個背板，這樣買家收到後就可以直接擺在桌上。
- 要表框：留的白邊就不能太多，然後可能要顧及一般市面上賣的畫框的尺寸，這樣買家才不會太困擾，或是花更多錢去用客製化的框。要簽名的話可能就得簽在背後比較適合。

總之覺得如果大家買回去的用途跟我設想的不一樣的話，收到作品後可能會造成各種意想不到的困擾。

這篇來簡單分享一我清單上的點，跟要去的話可以注意的事

## 📍 加州 Eastern Sierra

macOS High Sierra 的代表桌布就是在這個區域拍的，如果我功課沒做錯的話是 North Lake，但我還沒有去過。

2017 年的時候被 [Guruin 的文章](https://www.guruin.com/articles/1321) 燒到，揪了一大團朋友一起去。現在攝影技術比起當時進步了不少，回頭看 [當時的照片](https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1722298624454989) 覺得有點羞恥 XD

### 建議事項

*   聽說目前野火的關係，National Forest 好像還沒打開，衝一發之前可能要確認一下路跟地點是有開的
*   建議找一下當地的 fall color report，像是 https://www.monocounty.org/things-to-do/fall-colors/ ，來決定要在哪個時間點去哪些點
*   九月底到十月中好像比較適合
*   往南到 Lone Pine 的 Alabama Hills 那邊又是一個世界級的風景攝影點，而且全年都可以拍到好照片

## 📍 Utah Factory Butte

去年看 Michael Shainblum 分享他的 [youtube vlog](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-6Z6NVC8sk) 後就很想去，感恩節的時候第一次去那邊探路，聖誕節又跟朋友去了一次。目前是打算今年的秋景就去那邊拍，歡迎來跟我巧遇 XD

### 建議事項

*   那邊超級荒涼，沒有愛的不太建議 XD
*   可以用 Google 衛星地圖看一下那附近，超猛
*   即使沒有秋景那邊也有很多超酷的東西可以拍，然後 Capitol Reef, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonland 五個國家公園也都在那附近

## 📍 Colorado, Vermont, New England, Blue Ridge Parkway

每年都會看到超多那邊的秋景照，但都沒去過，想去。

## 📍 華盛頓州 Leavenworth

非攝影師想要悠閒的在華盛頓州欣賞秋景，不想爬山的話，Leavenworth 應該是最適合的，Enchantment Park 就在小鎮的主街旁邊，有家德國香腸店 München Haus 很有名每次去都會吃。

2018 年秋天在這邊拍了一個週末，Highway 2 上接近 Leavenworth 的地方可以路邊隨便停隨便拍，還蠻好玩的。

### 建議事項

*   週末人可能會有點多。
*   Lake Wenatchee State Park 也可以順路去看看。

## 📍 華盛頓州 North Cascades & Mt Rainier

山上的秋景比較是地上的草叢會變橘紅色，而不是樹會變色，可能會跟想像中稍微不太一樣。

Maple Pass Loop 有個地方可以叉出去往 Black Peak 走，半小時內會經過一區 larch tree 超級美，Maple Pass Loop 本身蠻熱門的停車位可能會有點難找。

## 📍 華盛頓州 Alpine Lake Wilderness

都是動輒幾小時以上的登山行程，會變色的樹以 larch tree 為主，十月中後山上可能就會開始下雪把顏色蓋掉。

超多瀑布，配上橘黃色的葉子超美

## 📍 Oregon Portland Japanese Garden

有一顆超級美的 Japanese maple tree 大家可以自行 google，不過那邊首先是要買門票進去的，然後還有弄排隊的動線讓大家拍那棵樹，大家拍起來都差不多。

## 📍 Canada Banff & Jasper National Park

2019 年十月中去了這邊，秋景比想像中的還少，感覺會變色的樹沒那麼多，但加拿大洛磯山脈的山景本身就美到不行了。

## 📍 Canada Vancouver

2016 年秋天去那邊覺得很漂亮，我 IG 上的第一張照片就是在那邊拍的

## 最後

*   陰天應該是拍秋景比較簡單的光線，少了陽光直射，樹葉顏色會比較鮮豔
*   偏光鏡應該會非常有用，尤其是下過雨之後，可以大幅減低樹葉上的反光，樹葉顏色也會比較鮮豔
*   追秋景的時間跟地點很重要，可以用 [秋景預測](https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/) 來粗估，然後建議可以找當地的 fall color report 來即時看秋景的狀況
*   不要抱太高的期望。網路上的無敵美照很多都是在好的光線跟對的日期下拍的，然後又後製加強過顏色，期待太高失望會越大，要提醒自己抱持親近大自然的愉快心情 XD

最近西雅圖的路上看到越來越多的樹葉在變顏色，看著手邊越來越長的秋景願望清單，跟有限的時間，又要開始煩惱今年得捨去哪裡了 🤣

這篇來簡單分享一我清單上的點，跟要去的話可以注意的事

## 📍 加州 Eastern Sierra

macOS High Sierra 的代表桌布就是在這個區域拍的，如果我功課沒做錯的話是 North Lake，但我還沒有去過。

2017 年的時候被 [Guruin 的文章](https://www.guruin.com/articles/1321) 燒到，揪了一大團朋友一起去。現在攝影技術比起當時進步了不少，回頭看 [當時的照片](https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1722298624454989) 覺得有點羞恥 XD

### 建議事項

*   聽說目前野火的關係，National Forest 好像還沒打開，衝一發之前可能要確認一下路跟地點是有開的
*   建議找一下當地的 fall color report，像是 https://www.monocounty.org/things-to-do/fall-colors/ ，來決定要在哪個時間點去哪些點
*   九月底到十月中好像比較適合
*   往南到 Lone Pine 的 Alabama Hills 那邊又是一個世界級的風景攝影點，而且全年都可以拍到好照片

## 📍 Utah Factory Butte

去年看 Michael Shainblum 分享他的 [youtube vlog](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-6Z6NVC8sk) 後就很想去，感恩節的時候第一次去那邊探路，聖誕節又跟朋友去了一次。目前是打算今年的秋景就去那邊拍，歡迎來跟我巧遇 XD

### 建議事項

*   那邊超級荒涼，沒有愛的不太建議 XD
*   可以用 Google 衛星地圖看一下那附近，超猛
*   即使沒有秋景那邊也有很多超酷的東西可以拍，然後 Capitol Reef, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonland 五個國家公園也都在那附近

## 📍 Colorado, Vermont, New England, Blue Ridge Parkway

每年都會看到超多那邊的秋景照，但都沒去過，想去。

## 📍 華盛頓州 Leavenworth

非攝影師想要悠閒的在華盛頓州欣賞秋景，不想爬山的話，Leavenworth 應該是最適合的，Enchantment Park 就在小鎮的主街旁邊，有家德國香腸店 München Haus 很有名每次去都會吃。

2018 年秋天在這邊拍了一個週末，Highway 2 上接近 Leavenworth 的地方可以路邊隨便停隨便拍，還蠻好玩的。

### 建議事項

*   週末人可能會有點多。
*   Lake Wenatchee State Park 也可以順路去看看。

## 📍 華盛頓州 North Cascades & Mt Rainier

山上的秋景比較是地上的草叢會變橘紅色，而不是樹會變色，可能會跟想像中稍微不太一樣。

在拿到綠卡前我是用 H1B 工作簽証待在美國的，他有幾個不太方便的限制：
- 只能有特定種類的收入
- 不能自己開公司當老闆
- 失業太久的話 H1B 會失效

一直以來都想說反正還蠻喜歡目前在 FB 的工作，也不急著靠攝影賺錢，就佛系的申請，律師跟我要資料的時候常常一拖就一兩個月才給他...。

現在回想起來真的太傻，不僅持續了 “失業了的話要趕快找下份工作” 的壓力，想要賣攝影作品也怕報稅或簽證身份轉換的時候會有徒增複雜度。總之昨天在信箱收到的時候真的是非常開心，又一道枷鎖被解開了！（今年初也解了一道枷鎖是升職成資深工程師，在 FB 沒有在一定的時間內升到資深的話會被開除 😅）

- 責任避險 -> 假設我帶攝影團出遊，有人受傷告我，我最多好像就是公司破產但不會搞到個人破產

雖然沒有真的深入去研究，但總之覺得註冊個公司不會錯，所以這週一拿到綠卡後就啟動了流程。我是透過 ZenBusiness.com 註冊在華盛頓州的 LLC。對比加州，華盛頓州的 LLC 年費便宜了好幾倍，還算在可以負擔隨便玩玩看的範圍內。他們網站上預估大概兩三週會跑完流程，期待一切順利。

好啦其實麻不麻煩都是取決於功能需求，幾年前嘗試了 Medium.com，去年試了 Squarespace.com，這週嘗試了 Gatsby.js。最後的感覺是用這些現有的服務或框架，一開始雖然可以很快弄出東西，但長期來下來看要客製化出我想要的功能都太浪費時間了，還是自己從頭寫一個比較好成長他。目前 tech stack 長這樣

- TailwindCSS
- Imagekit.io

除了 React 已經寫了七年之外其他都是以前沒用過的東西，學到好用的新東西覺得非常興奮 XD

秋天快到了！

目前打算九月底十月初左右請兩週的假，公路旅行去 Utah 拍秋景，或是去加拿大 Banff & Jasper NP（綠卡身份轉換結束，終於可以出國了！），但是現在滿心想要趕快把網站架到一個段落，同時工作上我的 Project 進入了個令人興奮的狀態，又要進入蠟燭多頭燒的痛苦階段了 😱

1. 拿到綠卡

3. 架公司網站


## ✅ 綠卡

## 💡 蛤？設計思維？

簡單來說，靠創意吃飯的人，如果只依靠虛無飄渺的靈感，或是敲腦袋來產生創意，那應該是個壓力極大又無法長久的工作。

過去幾十年，有群人歸納出了一些方法跟思維方式來幫助人們誘發創意，稱之為 Design Thinking。這套方式被廣泛地使用在各種情境，而我發現我也常常把他用在我的攝影上。

用發散思考去上網 Google 「Mt Rainier」,「Mt Rainier sunrise」,「Mt Rainier fine art photo」等等, 找出華盛頓州風景攝影師的 Mt Rainier 照片們，截圖到筆記裡面，累積了幾百張。

### 洞見 (Insight)
- 發現很多構圖不斷的重複出現，原來很多是地點限定的
- 發現好像日出日落的照片最好看，大白天的時候山上的雪的質地看起來好像都會髒髒的
- 很大一部分喜歡的照片是有霧的 (氣象限定)，另一大部分是有野花盛開的 (季節限定)

於是從原本的幾百張照片，先收斂到十幾個地點整理在筆記裡：

## 🇮🇸 First time in Iceland
- Went to Iceland during thanksgiving for an 11 days photo trip! Finally, get to see this legendary country, and it truly did not disappoint. 11 days was just too short! 😆
- We get stuck in the snow trying to pull over to shot northern light. And immediately, a couple of passing cars stopped to help us get out. Those friendly Icelanders! 😍
- I had a pretty low expectation for photographing Kirkjufell because it has been photographed by so many people. But it turns out to be one of the most enjoyable sessions! There are lots of different foreground opportunities, especially under different temperatures and the river shore frozen in different ways. And we are lucky that there are only a handful of people around.
- We drove in a whiteout situation briefly one day and then drove in an extremely windy situation (wind gusts at 70+ mph!) the other day. We are lucky that they didn't happen at the same time cause both times are stressful. 😅
- I've been practicing not bringing too much expectation during these photo trips so that I have a better time enjoying nature and finding connections. And I'm glad I did that cause otherwise, I think I would've come back feeling quite disappointed comparing all the epic shots I saw from the Internet and the light we got during our trip.

## 📝 Traveling Tips
- Consider bringing an extra glove, just in case you are about to go out and realize you lost one.
- Handwarmers are quite handy and surprisingly not that easy to find in the local grocery store.
- Winter driving around ring road was not as hard as it seemed from the Internet. If you are unsure, try to keep the itinerary flexible and level your way up. (we only booked a hotel for our first 4 nights, then we improvised every day). As you gain more experience each day and prepare yourself for the worst-case scenario, it should be easy to break through your comfort zone.
- Iceland's real-time road status website was super helpful that we check every day: http://www.road.is/travel-info/road-conditions-and-weather/entire-iceland-road-conditions-map/ . We were mostly on the green, orange, light blue, and white line during the trip, and our 4WD SUV with studded tires handled them smoothly. 
- The food in Iceland greatly exceeds our expectations! At least compared to those in the rural area of the USA. 😅
- Landscape photography during winter in Iceland is so comfortable. There's no need to get up early for sunrise anymore, and I get to have dinner by 5pm!
- Compared to Canada, Central America, or Alaska, the temperature was much milder. I'm guessing that's because it's close proximity to the ocean. It doesn't get lower than -20 ℃ too often.


## 📸 Photography Tips
- Waterproof socks are super handy. Especially when the snow gets into the boots and starts melting.
- Water boots are still a must-have when shooting seascapes.
- Electric Air Duster (https://amzn.to/307eGq7) was extremely handy! Not only did it help me blow the snow/water out instantly when shooting the waterfalls, but it also helped me clean up my drone after flying through rain and snow.

- A lot of popular spots have now banned drones. It'll probably become more and more restrictive. 😞
- I don't recommend going on Ice cave tour with a large group. We had 13 people in our group, and I found it quite hard to get into the mindset of taking good photos.
- It seems like it's after mid-November did the snow started to accumulate. I thought it'd be much earlier. So if you want to shoot winter landscape, probably the later, the better.

## 🇮🇸 第一次去冰島
- 趁著感恩節假期來了個十一天的冰島攝影之旅，終於見到了這個風景攝影的聖地！真的是名不虛傳又潛力無窮，短短十一天根本拍不滿足啊 😆
- 為了拍極光不小心路邊停車的時候停到鬆雪裡卡住，馬上就有好幾組路過的冰島人停下來幫我們把車拉出來 😍
- 教堂山名不虛傳，雖然是個超級熱門的拍照點，但還是可以找出有趣的構圖，尤其在河岸邊每天結冰的程度不一樣，會有不同樣子的前景
- 最近在練習不要抱持過度的期待進入大自然，以免期望越高失望越大。如果讓那個失望感影響到旅行的情緒、或是導致錯過一些沒人會發現的獨特美景，那就真的是太可惜了。這一趟幸好有這樣設定好心態，否則我猜我應該會對於這次遇到的光線感到失望吧。

## 📝 旅程心得
- 手套可以多帶一雙備用，以免不見了還得找地方買
- 暖暖包很好用
- 冬季自駕環島沒有網路上說的那麼困難。如果不確定的話，保持行程的彈性 (我們第四晚之後都是前一晚才決定隔天晚上的住宿點)，透過旅程的前幾天熟悉環境獲取經驗值，然後抱持著大不了就開到不敢再開然後回頭，或是任何一個點都可以多住一晚休息等等想法，就可以突破舒適圈，然後獲取新的經驗。
- 冰島的即時路況資訊真的很方便，每天都在看：http://www.road.is/travel-info/road-conditions-and-weather/entire-iceland-road-conditions-map/ 。這趟都開在綠、橘、淺藍、白色線上面，我們租的小 SUV 四輪驅動加鑲釘輪胎，輕鬆開過。
- 食物真的是遠比想像中好吃，至少跟在美國拍風景照吃速食店比起來。
- 冬天冰島拍照好開心，早上可以睡飽吃完早餐，十點在開始準備拍日出。然後下午五點就拍完日落開始吃晚餐了，超級人性化的行程。😆
- 跟加拿大、美國中部、阿拉斯加比起來，好像沒有想像中的冷。島國感覺靠海的的調節，氣溫可能還是比較不常掉到 -20 ℃ 的痛苦區間。

## 📸 攝影心得
- 防水襪很好用，當雪不小心跑進鞋子裡面的時候融化成水的時候，還是有最後一道保護。
- 拍海的話長筒雨鞋一樣是必備神器
- 電動吹球 (https://amzn.to/307eGq7) 是這趟最新發現的神器，除了拍瀑布可以瞬間把鏡頭上的霧吹乾之外，空拍機在雲霧中飛完回來也可以快速把他清乾淨，在寒冷的環境一直壓吹球很痛苦啊。

- 熱門的景點很多都不能飛空拍機了，感覺只會越來越嚴格 😞
- 藍冰洞不推薦跟大團的 tour，我們那團有十三個人，覺得很難進入拍攝狀態。
- 今年十一月中以後好像才剛開始積雪，本來以為這個時候早就是被大雪覆蓋了，要拍雪景的話可能更晚一點會更保險。

After graduation, my girlfriend and I ended up working in different cities. She accepted an offer from Amazon in Seattle while I went for Facebook in Silicon Valley. We weren't sure how long we'd have to do this long-distance relationship, but that didn't bother us much. 

For the first time in our lives, we lived on the money we earned, and we were getting paid generously. We've never been to Seattle or Silicon Valley before, so everything is new, refreshing, and exciting. We would take turns visiting others or meet up at a third location. I also explored my local area with my friends over the weekends.

With all this traveling and exploring, I shot a lot of different stuff during this period. Mostly wildlife, cityscape, landscape, portrait, travel, and nightscape. I wasn't sure which kind of photography I'd like to dig deep into, but I'm interested in finding that out.

## July 2-10, 2016
We first stopped by California to settle down my stuff and check out San Francisco when we returned to the US. Then we went to Seattle to set up hers. We also went to the top of Space Needle to enjoy the nightscape.

## September 4, 2016
My girlfriend came to visit me, and we went to this famous coastal city Monterey for a day trip. Monterey has now become one of the Mac OS's version's names! 😆

## December 4, 2016

Around this time, I started to notice how fun it was to shoot wildlife. But my 24-105mm and 24-70mm just aren't long enough. So I purchased one of the best telephoto lenses at the time: Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L II. At 400mm, it can make distanced blurry object looks enormous in my frame, and the image quality was second to none. 

I took the lens out to Baylands Natural Preserve for the afternoon. Unfortunately, it felt so big and heavy and attention-drawing that I figured I wouldn't dare and feel comfortable to use it too often. So I returned it within 30 days.

## Dec 24, 2016

After returning the telephoto lens, I purchased a Canon 50mm F1.8 STM prime lens. I was convinced prime lens has better image quality, and with a bigger aperture, it will come with nicer bokeh. Someone on the internet also advocates that with a prime lens, you'll eventually learn how to compose images better by walking around more, which now I think is non-sense. 

We found a neighborhood with a full-blown Christmas decoration to enjoy the holiday and take pictures.

## Dec 25-30, 2016

During Christmas and New Year, we had 2 consecutive long weekends. So if we also take time off in between, we can create an 11-day long vacation. And that's what we did. We decided to use this time for our first-ever road trip in the US.

We went from Silicon Valley to Los Angeles for Disneyland and back, taking famous California's Highway 1 to enjoy the coastline along the way. It was the first time we realized we could drive long-distance and enjoy the whole trip, and we really appreciate the freedom and flexibility that comes with it. This trip became the first that inspired the many other road trips we have taken since then.

## Feb 11-14, 2017

After the Christmas road trip, we couldn't wait to get back on the road. So on our 4th anniversary, we went to Las Vegas and roadtrip to Grand Canyon. We realized we don't care much about city lives and enjoy the outdoors a bit more.

I also switch my camera to always save RAW+JPEG. Even though I still didn't bother to post-process my photo until later in the year, I felt there was no harm in saving those files.

## March 25, 2017
Since I still need a telephoto lens to shoot wildlife, I researched all the lenses with telephoto capability and decided on this 28-300mm lens from Tamron. It was super lightweight, and the image quality looked indistinguishable from Canon's lens to me back then. I was so proud that I found this versatile all-in-one lens.

## April 4, 2017

We went to Yosemite for the first time! It was also our second National Park after Grand Canyon. I really appreciate American's National Park system that it's very easy to find things to do with very little research. We just need to show up and get that free yet well-designed brochure at the entrance. For this trip, we also ask a ranger for recommendations and simply follow that. 

At the time, I had no idea of the picturesque potential of Yosemite, nor did I know the benefit of shooting during sunrise and sunset. So we just went out mid-day like a normal person. 😆

## May 6-7, 2017

Now that we're in love with American National Park, my friends and I went to Seattle to check out Mt Rainier National Park for the first time. We had no idea it was still snow-covered in May and that I'd be coming back like it's my backyard.

As you can probably tell, I was drawn into nature a lot. I don't have any successful landscape photos yet, but I have a small taste of success with wildlife and candid photos that I really love.

畢業後王文昱拿了 Amazon 的正職在西雅圖，然後我拿了 Facebook 的在矽谷。遠距離雖然有點麻煩，也不知道什麼時候能夠結束，但我們當時也沒太糾結。畢竟我們終於開始花自己賺的錢過著舒適的生活，再加上我們從來沒有來過加州跟西雅圖，所以什麼都超級新鮮有趣。我們說好輪流去對方的城市玩，或是選個第三點去探險。週末我也常常會跟在加州的朋友到處探索。

在這樣的生活下到處拍了各種東西，主題主要是野生動物、城市、風景、人、旅遊跟夜景，我不知道自己喜歡或擅長拍什麼，但還蠻想要有個可以專注發展的主題的。

## July 2-10, 2016

從台灣回來美國後我們先到加州搞定我的住宿，順便逛了一下舊金山。接著一起去西雅圖搞定王文昱的東西，也順便逛了一下西雅圖市區，還跑到 Space Needle 上面看夜景。

在這附近我開始覺得拍野生動物很好玩，但是 24-70mm 或 24-105mm 的焦段不夠長拍起來實在有點吃力，就入手了一個當時最頂級的望遠變焦鏡頭 Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L II。400mm 可以把遠方肉眼都看不清楚的東西放大到超大，畫質還超級好，真的是猛到爆。

我帶著這顆鏡頭去附近的一個自然保護區 Baylands Natural Preserve 拍了一個下午，可惜覺得鏡頭實在是太重太大又很招搖，想想這樣的情況下之後應該出勤率可能不會太高，就把他退回去了。

退回望遠鏡之後買了 Canon 50mm F1.8 STM 這顆定焦鏡。那時候覺得定焦鏡的畫質好像比較好，大光圈又可以有更好的散景，而且網路上還看到有人說拿定焦鏡拍照有助於學習構圖，就買了。不過後來覺得對我學習構圖沒什麼幫助就是。

聖誕夜我們找到了一個充滿聖誕裝飾的社區去感受過節氣氛，順便拍拍照。

聖誕節跟跨年是美國我們有連續兩週的四天長假，所以把中間的週間也請掉的話搭配週末就可以湊出一個十一天的長假，覺得不能浪費的我們決定來個長途自駕旅行。

我們決定從矽谷開到洛杉磯去迪士尼樂園玩再開回來，走了以風景優美著稱的加州一號公路，沿途在海岸線上的各個景點停停走走。整趟下來開了大概 1600 公里，不僅創下了我們第一次長途自駕的紀錄，還愛上了長途自駕這種自由彈性的玩法，於是有了後來無數次的旅程。

## Feb 11-14, 2017

有了跨年的長途自駕後經驗，四週年的紀念日我們迫不及待的又來了一趟。這次我們飛到拉斯維加斯然後租車去大峽谷跟周邊的一些景點，覺得戶外踏青還是遠比城市生活來得有吸引力。

同時我也把相機設定成拍 RAW+JPEG，雖然當時還是不知道要怎麼後製，但覺得反正檔案存下來也沒有損失。

為了繼續拍野生動物，我地毯式的找遍了所有有望遠端的鏡頭，最後買了 Tamron 的 28-300mm。他超級輕便、相對便宜、畫質在我當時看來也沒有比原廠鏡還差，超級驕傲自己發現了這顆無敵鏡頭 XD

## April 4-5, 2017

第一次去優勝美地！也是大峽谷之後的第二個國家公園。覺得美國的國家公園有很棒的一致性，除了網站的導覽做得很好之外，只要人到了那邊，入園的時候都會拿到很詳細的攻略，也可以找遊客中心的 ranger 幫你推薦行程，這趟基本上就是單純的跟著 ranger 推薦的路線走。

當時完全不知道優勝美地可以被拍的多美，也還不知道要在日出日落的時候拍照，所以我們就像個正常人一樣用正常人的方式在日正當中遊園 XD

## May 6-7, 2017

愛上國家公園的行程之後，跟朋友去西雅圖找王文昱順便去 Mt Rainier 國家公園。當時不知道五月的時候其實山上還都是雪，也不知道之後會把這邊當後花園的在去 XD

到這邊應該不難看出來，我們非常喜歡去戶外跟大自然接觸，雖然還沒有拍出很成功的純風景照，但已經開始體驗到了拍到很有趣的野生動物或朋友的照片時的成就感了。

2. 遠距離戀愛時期 (上)

把數位作品實體化成能夠拿在手上或掛在牆上的樣子，覺得才算真正完成了這幅作品。也因此特別想要把他產品化。而這兩週陸續收到了一堆之前下單給印刷廠商來測試的產品，覺得真的是一分錢一分貨，有些收到的品質實在是不怎麼樣。

## Wall Art 類型
目的是「掛在牆上」的產品主要測試了五種媒介：Framed Prints (錶框後加畫)、Canvas Prints (印在畫布上)、Metal Prints (印在鋁板上)、Arcylic Prints (壓克力)、Dibond Prints (金屬合成版)。
- Framed Prints 最大的缺點是外層的玻璃反光超級嚴重，掛在牆上那些反光我覺得很讓我分心。
- Metal Prints 的缺點除了也有反光之外，我覺得顏色很容易跑掉，好像跟他的印刷原理有關
- Canvas Prints 倒是又便宜又出乎意料的有質感，唯一的小缺點是近看的時候布的紋理很明顯，有些類型的照片可能不太適合，不過有些應該反而很搭。
- Arcylic Prints 我覺得超級有質感，也是一般看到最高級的產品。選擇抗反光的處理之後覺得還可以接受，只要掛的時候不要掛在陽光會直射的地方就不會太困擾。
- Dibond Prints 是我覺得是最有質感又不沒有像 Arcylic Prints 那麼貴的，霧面化處理完全沒有反光的問題。

## 印刷廠種類
印刷廠也有很大的區別，這次試了好幾種類型，有專門就是專業印照片的 (Bay Photo Lab、Bumblejax)，也有主打他們會在網站上幫我銷售，我只需要上傳照片就好的 (Society6)，還有是單純讓我用程式去接 API 然後他們去印的 (Printify)。然後有些是自己就有印刷廠，也有些事都不知道他們又再外包給誰去印的。

試完了之後覺得還是西雅圖本地的 Bumblejax 品質最好，Bay Photo Lab 也不錯，但其他的很明顯的就感覺不太行，或許他們主要是主打給藝術家方便，然後價格又賣的比較低，實際產品的品質就被犧牲掉了。

或許是雄偉怪狀的巨石、或許是氣勢滂薄的火燒雲、瀑布、山巒。如果你曾經跟我一樣在大景的面前驚嘆過，在腦中不斷回味那個場景過，那我猜你應該也跟我一樣，曾經被自己拍出來的照片失望過 🤣

甚至跟我一樣曾經有過「拍大景就是要用廣角鏡」的迷思？

## 風景裡的小小人

如果想要拍出大景的感覺，我蠻推薦嘗試看看這種構圖的。藉由畫面中人所佔據的小空間，可以製造出景色看起來很大的對比。

比方說下面這張照片，空拍機往前或往後飛一點，對於後面的山在畫面中所佔的比例其實不會差太多，但是前景的人會根據空拍機的位置而變很大或很小。不同的人 vs 山的比例會讓這張照片有不一樣的感覺。

另外如果這張照片裡面沒有人的話，其實我自己是覺得畫面有點單調，拿朋友來當構圖的素材很剛好的解決了這個問題。

## 廣角鏡

雖然說廣角鏡可以很容易的把人變小，但他同時也會把離鏡頭很近的小東西放得很大，很容易造成小花小草小石頭比人大上十幾倍的畫面，蠻容易會有違和感的，我也還沒有特別成功的作品是那樣的構圖。

下面這張照片我當時主要就是用廣角鏡在拍前景的石頭，但用小小人的構圖的時候我還是選擇把近景簡單化。

只要你站得離人夠遠，用望遠鏡頭也可以把人拍的無敵小，你有發現這張照片裡的人在哪裡嗎? 😂

不過上面這兩張照片的小小人我覺得是作為錦上添花用，即使沒有人在裡面他們還是算我很滿意的作品。

## 小小人當主角

當人在畫面裡面佔據的空間很小的時候，把人放在畫面裡的哪裡就是個值得考慮的事。想一想你希望人是你構圖的主角群之一？還是當配角或點綴就夠了？

這張照片把人放在那個圓圈的正中心，圓圈又在畫面的中軸線上，雖然人站畫面的比例很小，但卻是一個無法被忽視的存在。

下面這張稍微注意看的話就會發現，我的 model 在滑手機 😂 

不過也不能怪她，畢竟那個點印象中很神秘的是方圓兩小時車程內唯一有網路的地方，我們在那邊露營了一個晚上，難得有網路真的是要滑一下。

通常我都會多拍幾張不同姿勢的，作為 Photoshop 的備用素材。

- I made my first ever print sale this weekend! 
- We spread the demo prints all over the floor, feeling like a good old traveling salesman 🤣

- Next time, I should prepare to demo how the picture will look hanging up on the wall. Perhaps an AR app or some way to temporarily stick the prints to the wall?
- Also should've brought a leveling tool with me, just in case we make a sale and want to hang the print right away.
- What a super convenient service Stripe is! Taking care of calculating tax, and I can even add coupons with a few clicks!

## 🖨 Home Printing
- I finally solved an issue that has been bothering me for so long!
- If you had a hard time getting the color of the prints corrects using Lightroom's Print Module, I highly recommend you give up. Instead, use the native software that came with your printer. For me, it's Canon Print Studio Pro, designed for my Canon Pro-10000 printer.
- It's as simple as choosing the paper's ICC profile and clicking print. The color will look almost identical to what you see on the screen. Turns out the color difference between matte paper, glossy paper, and on-screen really isn't too dramatic.

## 🧑‍💻 Building this website
- Made a lot of progress this week!
- First of all, I finally have a page to showcase my photos 😆 (https://yuchienphoto.com/favorites). You can also click on the yearly pages and see pictures I haven't posted on social media before.
- Wrote a script to automatically upload images from my computer
- Wrote a script to automatically group photos in a folder into a session-based subfolder. So that each folder will have images taken no more than 2 hours apart.
- Build an admin page for organizing photos and writing titles, descriptions, ... etc.
- Build a better post editor to help me write the bilingual post.
- I looked more deeply into SEO and made sure most of my pages have appropriate tags and images have alt and SEO-friendly URLs. But then I realized that nowadays, Google just doesn't crawl everything. It seems like they just don't want to index my website for whatever reason. 🥲

## 💵 第一筆收入
- 這個週末賣出了第一幅作品真的是超感動的啊！超級感謝好朋友用 $$ 支持 😍
- 把作品們通通帶去他們家鋪在地上一起選，感覺好像傳說中的 Travelling salesman 在賣寶石還懷錶一樣 🤣

- 學到了下次要想個可以把作品短暫掛在牆壁上的方法，比較好模擬實際的感覺，或是弄個 AR App。
- 應該也要帶個水平儀跟可以直接把作品掛上牆的東西，以免帶去的作品直接就被收下了要馬上掛到牆上 😆
- Stripe 做收款的連結超簡單又方便，稅也都幫我搞定了，還可以加 Coupon 真的是有趣。

## 🖨 印刷
- 這兩週解決了一個困擾我好久的超級大困擾。
- 簡單說，如果你用 Lightroom 的 Print Module，然後發現印出來的色彩跟螢幕上看的不太一樣的話，不要浪費時間試各種參數了，試著用印表機原廠的軟體吧 (我是 Canon Pro-1000，所以用了對應的 Canon Print Studio Pro)。
- 我自認為對軟體的設定們很有 sense，還暴力試過了 LR 各式各樣的參數跟印表機的參數組合，但印出來的色彩就是會很不穩定，超級挫折。用了 Canon Print Studio Pro 後一切問題都解決了。印的時候套用對應紙質的 ICC Profile 後，都可以跟螢幕上 soft-proof 後的幾乎一樣，而且其實 Matte 跟 Glossy 的色彩飽和度也沒有像 LR soft-proof 給的差那麼多。

## 🧑‍💻 寫網站
- 這兩週網站的進度大躍進！
- 首先把作品的頁面寫好了：https://yuchienphoto.com/favorites ，除了放上我個人最喜歡的作品之外，點進去年份的頁面，然後點導覽列右邊的 “其他”，可以看到我暫時沒那麼喜歡所以不曾放到 IG 上過的作品！
- 把以後要從電腦上自動上傳照片到網站的 script 寫好了
- 把後台照片的管理頁面寫好了
- 更新了給我自己寫雙語文章的編輯體驗
- 寫了可以右鍵自動把照片根據相近拍攝時間分到子資料夾的 script，省去以前每次匯入照片都得手動做的麻煩
- 深入研究了 SEO，把頁面大部分 SEO 該做的事都做了包括照片的 URL 跟中英 alt tag，然後發現 Google 現在已經不是所有網站都會爬了，而我的網站他顯然還看不上眼死不爬 🥲

## 🍂 Chasing fall color
- Took a full 2 weeks off to chase fall color in southern Utah
- Spent 3 nights in Hanksville, 2 in Torrey, 3 in Kanab, 3 in Springdale, and 2 in Hanksville again. I'm more inclined to stay longer in 1 place instead of changing the hotel every day or two. Save up more time for refining composition in fewer places and more relaxing in the hotel.
- I realized Utah state route 24 between Torrey and Hanksville got a huge potential for the small scene of trees. My note has at least 4 world-class photographers, all having great photos of taking from that route. And it's super interesting that everyone has different trees that they took. Even I have my own from last year's trip that I absolutely love. What a fantastic place.
- My first day in Kanab, I realized the lottery for The Wave permit was super close to my hotel, so I woke up early to try my luck. Then I realized there are about 100 groups for only 4 tickets. 😨 So I didn't even bother to try the next 2 days again.
- I was persuaded to try the Subway trail in Zion National Park. And that's when I realized it was different than The Narrow. 🤣 It's a lot easier to get the permit. I basically just went online and reserved mine. The trail itself is also easier than I thought. The water level was low, so I didn't need any waterproof stuff to get to the photo spot. I did put on water boots, though, so it's easier to walk around in the Subway and refine the composition.

## 🚙 Driving
- On my way back home, I break my own record again. I drove by myself in 1 day for what Google Map estimated for 13 hours drive. I have the advantage of crossing 1 timezone and the end of daylight saving, which feels like I get 2 hours back. The trick for me is to always stop for rest every hour, even when I don't feel like I need it. This way, I always feel like I'm less than an hour from rest and feel easy to achieve that.
- During this long drive, I listened to more than 10 episodes of  [F-Stop Collaborate and Listen Podcast](https://www.mattpaynephotography.com/page/f-stop-collaborate-and-listen/). Highly recommended for my landscape photographer friends. Each episode is an in-depth interview with some famous or interesting landscape photographer. I even supported him on Patreon since I really do get a lot from those interviews.

## 🧑‍💻 Building Website
- Although it feels kind of wasteful, I spent a significant portion of my time staying at a hotel building this website during this trip. Not only have I finally finished the landing page but also a complete revamp of the navigation structure. Even though I could've done these in my home with all the comfort and big monitor, I realized I'm actually more productive on the road, with beautiful scenery every day, so I'm not feeling too bad for not shooting more.

## 🍂 追秋景
- 請了整整兩週假跑去猶他州南部拍秋景。
- 這趟在 Hanksville 待了三晚、Torrey 兩晚、Kanab 三晚、Sprindele 三晚、Hanksville 兩晚，覺得越來越喜歡一口氣在同一個地方多待幾天。省去了開車開來開去跟換旅館的時間，更多的是愜意的研究構圖跟在飯店耍廢休息寫網站。
- 發現 Utah state route 24 從 Torrey 到 Hanksville 一路上很多厲害的樹景，我的筆記裡面就有四位大神 Michael Shainblum, Alex Noriega, Joshua Snow 跟 Guy Tal 的作品集有許多在那條路上的照片，而且大家的圖都各不相同，去年我也自己發現了一張我超愛的構圖，覺得那邊真的太猛了。
- 住 Kanab 的第一天發現 The Wave 的抽籤就在飯店旁邊，還早起去抽了一發，結果發現大概是 100 組搶 4 支籤，後兩天就連起床去抽都懶了 😅
- 臨時被說服衝了一發 Zion 的 Subway trail，才發現原來跟 The Narrow 是不同的地方 😂，Permit 這個時候也沒什麼人搶，直接網路上預約就有了。Trail 本身沒有想像中難，這趟去的時候水位還蠻低的，甚至完全不需要任何防水設備的就走到了拍照點，不過最後還是穿上防水鞋比較好亂走找構圖。

## 🚙 開車
- 回程再度突破個人紀錄，在一天之內單人開了 Google Map 説要 13 小時的車程，靠的是每次上路都會看準下一個小時內要休息的點，然後確實停下來休息個幾分鐘，還有跨一個時區加上日光節約時間讓我感覺多賺了兩個小時。
- 路途上聽了至少十幾二十集 [F-Stop Collaborate and Listen Podcast](https://www.mattpaynephotography.com/page/f-stop-collaborate-and-listen/)，強烈推薦給同樣是風景攝影師的朋友，他每一集都是跟風景攝影界厲害的人的深入訪談，覺得受益良多之下我還跑去他的 Patreon 付費支持了。

## 🧑‍💻 寫網站
- 雖然一開始覺得有點浪費，但這趟其實大部分的時間我都在飯店寫這個網站，除了把首頁終於做好了之外，還把整個網站的導覽架構大改。會覺得浪費是因為寫程式根本就可以在家舒舒服服的寫就好，不過發現在飯店寫程式的同時，每天都可以去附近拍美景，好像比較有效率，就釋懷了 😂

## May 28, 2017 @ Muir Woods National Monument

I purchased my second camera: Canon 5D Mark IV. It was one of the flagship cameras from Canon at the time that many professionals use! I don't remember the exact reason behind this purchase, but I probably had enough money saved up and the desire to take my photography to the next level. 5D Mark IV is indeed better than 6D, and the upgrade was noticeable in many aspects.

## June 3, 2017
My girlfriend visited me again, and we went to Lake Tahoe. Besides photography, I was also considering cycling as a hobby. Back in college, when I had no car or motorcycle, I used to cycle to the nearby mountains and joined my University's cycling club. But somehow, riding a bike doesn't feel as enjoyable anymore, so this hobby didn't take off.

## July 23-24, 2017

So far, most of my trips have been either with my girlfriend or my friends, and I seldom went alone just for photography. But I started to want a better success rate during the outing, so I decided to go alone this weekend to try the Milky way shot.

I went back after this failure and did some research on the Internet for where to best take pictures of the milky way around Silicon Valley. I quickly decided to go to Henry W. Coe State Park the next day.

## Augest 27, 2017
We went to Mt Rainier again for another hike around Sunrise Visitor Center. This time it was a clear day, and we were able to see the magnificent mountain herself. But I was disappointed when I saw the pictures from my computer later. I felt like I didn't do the scene justice and wasted my time with many bad shots. I even tried using Apple Photos to post-process the image a bit, but no luck.

## Oct 20-22, 2017

Suddenly it's fall again! I saw an article from https://www.guruin.com/articles/1321 about the beautiful fall color around Mammoth Lake and High Sierra. I was super impressed by the article and shared it with my friends to see who was interested. It turns out people all wanted to go, and we ended up having a big group of 10+ people on this trip!

I was looking forward to getting some good pictures, so much so that I woke up early for sunrise.

But I didn't know how to pick a good sunrise spot, so the images were still only looking ok. I'm happier with the photos I took for my friends, though. Everyone seemed to have a good time with the trip. As an organizer, that's a big relief.

I was also really into shooting directly into the sun to show how sunny the day was. It looks super cool on the back of the camera but not that impressive on the computer. There's also tons of glare that makes the image looks dirty.

## Oct 28, 2017 @ Sunol Regional Wilderness

I started to get very hungry at getting good pictures. It doesn't matter if it's wildlife, friends, or whatever, as long as it looks beautiful or meaningful to me. I'd gone out almost every weekend to shoot something, with or without friends.

I also started doing basic post-processing on my pictures to make them look a bit better. Since I always import my photos to Apple Photos, I use its built-in editor to make basic adjustments like brightness and colors.

So this and the previous post pretty much wrap up the long-distance relationships period of my life. Because one this one day, my manager told us that our team would be dismissed by the end of 2017 😅

I had already started to feel a bit bored with what our team was doing back then and started thinking about switching teams. But I had no idea the company would dismiss the team without much hesitation. I'm pretty happy personally because now there's no reason for me not to relocate to Seattle to be with my girlfriend anymore.

But before I moved in Feb 2018, we went on another epic road trip during Christmas and New Year holidays. Stay tuned for the next post!

我入手了 Canon 5D Mark IV，是當時 Canon 的旗艦機之一！確切的理由已經不太有印象，但大概是覺得工作一年存了不少錢了可以寵自己一下，然後想要讓自己的攝影進入下一個層次吧，旗艦機比起 6D 真的是厲害不少，是個很有感的升級。

王文昱來加州找我然後我們載了兩台腳踏車去灣區的度假勝地 Lake Tahoe 玩。以前大學的時候我總是透過騎單車的方式親近自然，就想說在美國要不要重拾這個興趣。不過後來習慣開車出門後就沒有繼續投資單車，而且騎腳踏車跟帶全副攝影設備出去拍照有點互斥。

## July 23-24, 2017

到目前為止，我大部分的行程都是跟王文昱或朋友們，很少自己單獨行動，攝影也因此比較是「順便」的活動。但慢慢開始覺得很想要提升拍出好照片的成功率跟專注在攝影，於是這個週末就決定以拍銀河為目標，自己出門拍照。

## Augest 27, 2017

換我去西雅圖找王文昱順便去 Mt Rainier 的另一個區域：Sunrise Visitor Center。這次大晴天終於看到了壯闊的山！但回家後看照片卻非常失望，覺得完全沒有捕捉到現場感受到的壯闊感，浪費了很多精力卻帶回了不怎麼樣的照片。我也開始試著用 Apple Photos 內建的修圖功能來修圖，不過也沒有好太多。

秋天毫無預警的到了！發現了網路上一篇推薦加州 Mammoth Lake 跟 High Sierra 秋景的文章 (https://www.guruin.com/articles/1321) 後超級心動，傳給朋友們後迅速的就揪到了一團十幾個人都想去 XD

這趟我因為實在太想拍好照片了，連續兩天都早起出門拍日出。

但那時候還不知道要怎麼找好的日出點，然後也不知道確切哪個點才有好看的秋景，所以日出照的成果看起來有點普通。我反而還是更喜歡我拍的朋友照，大家看起來都玩得蠻開心的，作為主辦人覺得鬆了一口氣。XD

這時候開始我也越來越喜歡縮光圈拍太陽，覺得太陽星芒可以表現出大晴天的感覺，可惜往往在相機上看起來超級酷，回家用電腦看卻又覺得很普通。而且拍太陽常常會有耀光，讓照片看起來髒髒的不知道要怎麼解決。

漸漸的我開始越來越渴望拍出好照片，野生動物、朋友、或任何東西都可以，只要能夠讓我滿意就好。於是我幾乎每個週末都會出門拍照，不管有沒有朋友要跟。

我也開始都會用 Apple Photos 簡單調一下照片的光線跟顏色，試圖讓照片看起來更好看。

到這邊差不多就是遠距離戀愛時期的結束了，起因是有一天我的主管突然跟我們說我們小組在年底要被解散了 😅

當時本來就開始覺得在那個組做的東西好像沒那麼有趣了，也開始萌生想換組的念頭，但沒想到公司會毫不拖泥帶水的說解散就解散。也因此就毫無懸念的決定趁這個機會搬去西雅圖的分部工作，順利的結束了這一年半的遠距離戀愛。

不過在隔年二月真的搬去西雅圖之前，我們在聖誕新年連假來了一場超級公路旅行，敬請期待下一篇！

3. 遠距離戀愛時期 (下)

Many people have asked me: "How long have you been photographing?" and got me thinking about the progress I've made so far and all the pivotal moments. So I thought it would be fun to look back and document my journey with images I've taken along the way. 

This post took place in New York & Taiwan, from December 2015 to July 2016.

Growing up, I've always wanted a DSLR. But living on an allowance from my parent, I've never saved up enough to get one. They also strongly prefer I focus my time on education instead of investing too much time and money on the hobby. This goes on until 2015. 

After being born and raised in Taiwan for 25 years, I came to New York City for my graduate degree. It was a 9 months Master of Engineering program from Cornell Tech, and it was expensive. My goal was straightforward: get a full-time job before graduating to stay in the US and pay off the student loan as fast as possible. 

For people who have been in the same situation, you'd know the pressure can get quite high. Especially when one has no real working experience nor internship on their resume. I'm also not very good at communicating using English. I still remember feeling depressed after school because I couldn't find a way to speak up in classes. 

However, lucky for me, I got a verbal offer from Oracle for their Software Engineering position right before Christmas. And that took all the pressure off.

With such a relief and milestone achieved, I know I'll finally be living on my own money soon. Also, being in these exotic places and the Christmas season, it seems like I have all the reasons to treat myself with my dream camera. And so that's what I did. I'm a happy owner of a Canon 6D full-frame DSLR with a 24-105mm F4 lens.

At this point, I was comfortable with the camera. I already knew how to choose aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to create the desired effect. But what I don't know is what they can do to negatively impact the images. Like f22 will degrade the image quality due to diffraction, or ISO 12800 will have tons of noise. After reviewing my photos at my computer, I learned not to make those mistakes and started getting accessaries like tripods. 

I also haven't realized what different times or weather can do to the scene. So I haven't pursued shooting during sunrise/sunset yet. Plus, as someone who has never been to the US before, living only in a subtropical area, there are tons of interesting things for me to point my camera at. Like that UPS sign 🤣

Finally, even though I knew the advantage of shooting RAW, I never bothered to post-process the images. I also couldn't process my RAW file better than the straight-out-of-camera JPEG at that time anyway, so I was taking JPEG only the whole time.

Then I bought my second lens: 24-70mm F4 Macro. I wasn't satisfied with the focusing distance and thought I really wanted a lens that could shoot close up.

Before I graduated, I also got a full-time offer from Facebook for a Software Engineering position in April 2016. It was more than a cherry on top because it has been my dream to work at these tier-1 tech companies for quite some time. And among them, Facebook was my number 1 choice. I love everything I hear about them, from their culture, projects, talents, to perks. It was before all the negative news started piling up on Facebook. But I don't think any of the reasons I joined and loved about Facebook have changed, so I'm still happily employed here as of Oct 2021, with no plan to leave just yet.

Anyway, after graduation, I went back to Taiwan for a month to relax before starting the job in Menlo Park, California. I've used up all my allowance at the time, and my sign-on bonus won't come in until 3 weeks after the job start. So I was pretty broke to take any trip besides just traveling within Taiwan a little.

So these all took place in New York & Taiwan, from Dec 2015 to July 2016. The photos might look blah, but there was no short of fun and excitement during the time. I didn't chase any scene nor post-process any of my pictures. I didn't look at other people's photographs or compare mine with theirs. I didn't even actively learn how to take a good photo. I just pointed my camera at things I thought were interesting and had a good time. 

I think this is how most people started with photography, and to be honest, I miss that excitement sometimes.

最近發現蠻多人會問我我開始攝影多久了，讓我常常在回想這一路走來的心路歷程。覺得不如把這個歷程打出來成一個系列文，搭配一路上拍過的照片，應該會蠻有趣的。如果能夠啟發大家精進自己的攝影也很不錯。

這一篇的內容發生在 2015 年 12 月到 2016 年 7 月，場景在紐約跟台灣。

印象中從很小的時候我就很想要有單眼相機，但我一直以來都是過著領爸媽給的零用錢過生活，從來沒有存夠錢買一台。而且爸媽非常傾向於讓我把精力專注在求學上面，而不是花在興趣，這個情況一直持續到 2015 年。

那年我大學畢業當完兵，申請到了紐約的康乃爾大學唸資工碩士，那是一個九個月的超貴學程，所以我的目標蠻單純的：在畢業前找到工作留在美國，賺 Global Pay 快速累積資產。

有走過一樣的路的人應該都知道這個壓力有時候是蠻大的，尤其是在沒有工作經驗、沒有實習經驗、英文口說又不流利的時候，在課堂上會有想法說不出口變成啞巴，然後找工作投履歷九成被發無聲卡，少數拿到的面試又通過不了的時候，再加上知道畢業後如果太久沒有工作，簽證會失效沒辦法繼續待在美國，真的是會很焦躁。

幸運的是，我在聖誕節前一天收到了 Oracle 軟體工程師職位的口頭錄取通知，瞬間鬆了一大口氣。

在這情況下，知道隔年上工後我就財務獨立了，再加上第一次在美國各種新奇，又是聖誕節，覺得我集結了所有合理的理由送自己一台單眼，就立刻手刀下手了一台二手的 Canon 6D 全幅單眼 + 24-105mm F4 標準鏡。

我在這個階段算是蠻熟悉相機的操作的，知道要怎麼用光圈、快門來達到我想要的效果。但我不知道的是某些設定會有負面效果，像是光圈縮到 f22 其實畫質會變差，或是 ISO 12800 雜訊爆多根本不堪入目。都是回家在電腦上看照片的時候才發現，然後才意識到之後該怎麼改進的，也才買了腳架。

這個階段我也還不知道不同時間點的光線會拍出完全不一樣的照片，所以我完全沒有特別在日出日落的時候去拍任何照片。不過老實說，當時在美國什麼事物都超級新鮮，不管什麼時候出門都會有想拍的東西，像是那個 UPS 招牌 🤣

另外，雖然我那時就知道拍 RAW 的好處，但根本懶得修圖，而且反正想修也修不出比相機直出的 JPEG 好，就都只拍 JPEG。

接著發現很多時候我想近距離拍攝東西卻對不到焦，考慮再三後決定就入手了第二顆鏡頭，是有微距功能的 24-70mm F4 Macro

畢業之前，四月初幸運的又拿到了 Facebook 的錄取信，當時真的是開心到爆炸。Facebook 是我當時最最最想去的科技公司沒有之一，從聽到的公司文化、產品、人才、福利等等都超級讓我嚮往，而且那是在各種負面消息都還沒出來的時候。在那之後雖然眾多負面新聞不斷的浮現，大家對於 Facebook 的印象也開始變很差，不過從我的角度來看當時公司讓我嚮往的種種面向其實都還是沒變，所以到現在 (2021 年 10 月) 還是很開心的繼續在這邊工作。

總之，五月底畢業後回到台灣休息了一個月，準備在矽谷展開新生活。不過那時候剛好生活費都花光了，簽約金又要上工後三週才會拿到，整個窮到不行，只能在台灣小玩一下。 😂

這大概就是 2015 年 12 月到 2016 年 7 月之間發生的事，照片看起來其實就蠻一般，不過當時拍攝的當下其實都超級開心又覺得很好玩。不會去看別人拍了些什麼，也不會拿自己的照片去跟別人比較，甚至也沒有特別去研究要怎麼拍出好照片，就只是單純的把相機朝著有趣的地方拍然後享受那個過程。

我想應該大部分的人都是這樣開始接觸攝影的。老實說現在有時候沒有攝影靈感的時後，其實也會懷念當時那種隨便拍都可以很開心的感覺。
